foodZipper does not collect, store, transmit, or have access to your genetic data. Your DNA file is processed entirely in your browser and never leaves your device. There is no server. There is no database. There is nothing to breach.
When you upload a raw DNA file, the focalScan™ engine processes it entirely within your web browser. At no point during this process is any data sent to any server, API, cloud service, or third party.
When you close or refresh the page, your data is gone. foodZipper does not use cookies, tracking pixels, analytics services, or any form of user identification. There are no accounts, no logins, and no way for us to know who you are or what your results were.
foodZipper is a personal wellness exploration tool. It reads common genetic variants (SNPs) from consumer DNA testing services and suggests whole foods, exercise patterns, and lifestyle practices that may be relevant based on published biochemical research.
It is a starting point for self-directed learning — not an endpoint for clinical decision-making.
foodZipper is not a medical device, diagnostic tool, or clinical service. It does not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease or medical condition. It is not a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.
foodZipper does not provide supplement recommendations. All suggestions are whole-food based.
The genetic variants analyzed by foodZipper are common polymorphisms found in the general population. Having a variant does not mean you have a disease or disorder. It means your body may process certain nutrients differently — which is true of everyone.
The SNP-to-nutrient-to-food relationships in foodZipper are based on peer-reviewed biochemistry and, where available, clinical research. However, nutrigenomics is a young field. Some relationships in our engine are strongly supported by decades of research (e.g., COMT and magnesium dependence). Others are directionally supported but still emerging (e.g., VDR polymorphisms and dopamine biology).
We do not claim that eating specific foods will override your genetics, fix a medical condition, or produce guaranteed outcomes. Individual responses vary based on the full complexity of your genome, environment, microbiome, medications, and life circumstances — none of which a single-page tool can account for.
Consult a qualified healthcare provider before making dietary changes if you are pregnant or nursing, taking prescription medications, managing a diagnosed medical condition, have known food allergies or intolerances, or have concerns about any information in your report.
If your report highlights a variant and you want to act on it clinically — for example, getting ferritin tested or evaluating your homocysteine levels — that conversation belongs with your physician, not with a website.
foodZipper does not display advertisements. It does not sell, share, license, or otherwise monetize user data — because it does not have any user data. There are no partnerships with supplement companies, food brands, or testing services. No affiliate links. No sponsored recommendations.
